Challenge:

Dear young thinkers of the future, The Imaginarium would like to challenge you to design and build a sailboat to navigate across the Seven Seas!

The sailboat will need to brave the elements while transporting us!

Are you up for the challenge?

Materials provided:

  • Ice cream sticks
  • Tapes
  • Craft Foam
  • Paper

How it works:

The challenge will take about 30-40 mins and each challenger will go through three phases below:

Rules:

  1. Boat must be built within the mat provided (20cm by 20cm). No parts of the boat are allowed out of the mat.
  2. Building must be completed within the build phase, no tinkering with the boat after time is up.
  3. During the test phase, the challenger is not allowed to touch or hold the boat.

Stress test:

  1. Can the boat float without any support?
  2. Can the boat travel towards the intended direction?
  3. Can the boat cover the entire distance as intended?

Star Reward Criteria:

:         A boat that can float on the seas

  :     A boat that can float on the seas and travel a distance of at least 30cm

   : A boat that can float on the seas and travel a distance of at least 60cm
