March Holiday camp

Welcome to The Imaginarium’s March Holiday Camp! This one-week camp will focus on providing students the opportunity to explore the exciting world of city building. Through interactive activities, participants will learn about the various components that goes into designing and creating a smart city of the future.

The Smart Cities camp is designed to provide students with an introduction to urban planning and how the design of cities of the future will be influenced by technology.

Through interdisciplinary activities, participants will develop a variety of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics (STEAM) competencies such as design thinking, architecture and electronics. They will also gain an understanding of the importance of communication and cooperation through collaborative hands-on activities.

Additionally, participants will learn about their personal responsibility in contributing to the solutions of the problems that have and will continue to emerge in the modern world through the use of creative problem solving and critical thinking.

Participants will work through a number of activities that will leverage on skills and knowledge imparted during the camp including using Computed Aided Design (CAD) software to create buildings using 3D printing, robotics and coding.

Learning outcomes

  1. Gain an introductory understanding of robotics and how they can be used in the context of urban planning and design.
  2. Gain knowledge of 3D printing and Computer Aided Design (CAD) and how they are being used in the world.
  3. Develop an understanding of website design and coding fundamentals and how to apply it.
  4. Obtain an understanding of how urban planning shapes the future of cities.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is the earliest time I can drop off my child, and the latest time that I should pick him/her up by?

A: The earliest time you can drop off your child is at 8.45am. The latest time you can pick up your child is at 6.30pm. We do however encourage that you have your child picked up as soon as their day ends at 5.30pm.

Q: My child has certain dietary restrictions what should I do?

A: Please inform us about your child’s dietary restriction as soon as you sign up for the camp, so that we are able to discuss you with on the possible alternatives.

Q: I am unable to commit to all 5 days of the camp, can I still register for the camp?

A: It is advisable that your child attends all 5 days of the camp in order for them to fulfil all the learning objectives and outcomes. If your child is only able to commit 4 days, you will still be able to register for the camp. Do note that there will not be a refund of the cost of the missing camp days, nor will there be an option for partial payment in such cases.
